Responsibility 199, what is it?

Responsibility 199 is a belief; I believe that to be healthy and to increase my longevity I need to weigh 199 pounds or less...
Responsibility 199 is a need; I need to reduce my weight, reduce my percentage of body fat, and the elevated threat of disease my present condition presents...
Responsibility 199 is a mission; I recognize that achieving 199 will be a challenge, perhaps the hardest I have ever undertaken...
Responsibility 199 is a commitment; I acknowledge that I must commit to action, commit to change, commit to myself and those I love to achieve this mission, to increase my longevity...
Responsibility 199 is ME.

Walking PR's Today!

Woke up early and bored this morning, probably a bit miffed too from the Blackhawks loss last night. Didn't know what to do with myself so I went downstairs and went through my routine on the home gym. Felt good, replaced the boredom with something beneficial vs. a burrito which the old me would have gone for.

An hour later I happened to check the weather report, rain storms are coming; two hours away the weather genius said. My mind is doing weird things these days. Instead of cashing in a "rainy day" excuse & popping a movie into the machine and settle in for the day, no I didn't do that; instead I looked at my watch. Two hours, that's plenty of time to go for a walk to the park and back; my usual 2 mile neighborhood loop.

So outside I go, I look up, yep dark rain clouds are lurking. Without delay off I go. This 2 mile loop usually takes me 38 to 39 minutes to complete. Not today, 37:27 minutes later I am back home. Cool, a new PR for me on that loop!

I look up, yep same rain clouds still lurking; yet they don't seem any closer or angrier. Without realizing what I am doing, clearing some healthy-alien has taken up residence in me; off I go for another session on the same loop. What am I thinking? This is going to be like a 2 mile stroll at cool down pace after the first two mile walk at exercise pace, right healthy-alien? Wrong, 37:26 minutes later I am back home. Way-Cool, another new PR for me; two in one day :-)

Oh, and it's now about 2 hours past the time the weather genius said brace for storms; D'Oh !

The pic above is me in the middle of that 4th mile of the day. I was hurting but the expression on my face doesn't appear as pained as I felt. Probably because I was trying to snap the photo without dropping my phone. Oh, and don't you just want that hat? It is an Indiana Jones hat and the best hat I have ever owned.

  5. Alright! You are the original Mr. Walkman.

It is amazing how many things can make up the possible excuses to taking things easy.

You saw them all...they were within your grasp...but you ignored nature and decided to nurture yourself.

    Bravo!
