Responsibility 199, what is it?

Responsibility 199 is a belief; I believe that to be healthy and to increase my longevity I need to weigh 199 pounds or less...
Responsibility 199 is a need; I need to reduce my weight, reduce my percentage of body fat, and the elevated threat of disease my present condition presents...
Responsibility 199 is a mission; I recognize that achieving 199 will be a challenge, perhaps the hardest I have ever undertaken...
Responsibility 199 is a commitment; I acknowledge that I must commit to action, commit to change, commit to myself and those I love to achieve this mission, to increase my longevity...
Responsibility 199 is ME.

Day 283 - RIP Jack, and Here I Come!

Let's take a moment to say goodbye to a health & fitness pioneer, Jack LaLane.
NINETY-SIX, we should all be so lucky, and maybe we will if we make our own luck as Jack did.

Another week is here for us to take by the horns and break as we see fit... are you ready? If yes, cool - so am I! If not, Huh; why not?!

This picture below sucks because it shows my thinning head of hair (those of you who have come to know me understand that is jest as I could careless what my hair does; remember this photo).

But it was a cool action shot of me on the elliptical yesterday a split nano-second after I stumbled, my left iTouch ear bud fell out of my ear and I snared it with my teeth... yeah, I got skills!

Feeling good today, the cold that kept me tame for a few days has abated and I am amped for this week. This coming week is no different than any other before it, except that it is here. So, with that bit of obvious nonsense out of the way, what is the plan for this week?

Eat like a champion! Our menu is planned for this weeks dinners, I have what I need for breakfast and snacks, and I know what I need to do at the office cafeteria for lunches. Are your meals for the week planned?

Exercise like an veteran! Yep, I have been exercising now for what, 8'ish months?... I used my fingers so I think I counted that correctly. So I know what I need to do, but I also acknowledge I need to step it up and plan out when I will exercise, and I have; WEIGHTS on Monday, Thursday, Saturday. CARDIO on Tuesday, Friday, Sunday. What is your exercise plan for the week?

Have fun like a kindergartner! No, that does not mean I am going to make any macaroni-noodle art. But it does mean I am going to make meals fun by enjoying the company I keep, making meals together with my gorgeous wife, and I also already know the cool n'healthy meals I have planned. As well I am going to have fun exercising. My iTouch is ready to rock me through them, I am going to challenge myself on form and consistency start to finish, and I am going to try to exercise with my hot n'sexy wife too (read into that what you will). Perhaps a kindergartner wouldn't consider all of that fun, just think of me as a mature-kindergartner. Please tell me you have plans to have some fun this week; PLEASE!

Ready or Not, Here I Come!

Responsibility 199 - Gotta Do It!!

  1. I am not one to plan out my meals just because I never know what I will be craving. But we usually eat about the same things every week. So I guess you could call that planning. I need to start making a few new things! I sure love the flatous as does my husband so we make pizzas with them which we love!! You can find that on my blog with pics! Just type in flatout pizza in search box at the top. That is if you would like! I have lots of exercise planned for the week. Lots of 10 min intervals on my tread climber and I am going to start using my kettle bell. I need to dig out the DVD that I have for it and watch it first! Have a great monday!

  2. I have a brand spankin' new elliptical machine thanks to my most amazing sister in the world who heard I had to put my gym membership on hold due to finances. So, exercise: ELLIPTICAL! Bodyweight exercises, On Demand offerings, shivering.

Food: the usual, plus I'm making a special meal for the family of a Skinny General Gao's Chicken mid-week.

Fun: coffee with my buds if the snow doesn't cancel it out.

    Gonna be a rockin' week.

  3. Made my scrambled eggs and ground turkey breast last night for breakfasts this week! You are right - it feels so good to have a plan!

  4. I heard about Jack - What a pioneer & amazing man!!!!!!!

I got to say with those amazing catch the ear buds skills, your wife is a lucky woman! ;-)

I love your plans for the week & the go for it attitude!

I am ready & have food & all that raring to go!

Fun for me is the weights BUT the weather is nice here so I will have to get out & enjoy too!

Keep up the great work Patrick!

  5. Everything I am I owe to Jack. I'm soo sad. You honor him with your day, your blog, and your commitment. Thank you.

  6. Hi, Patrick. I have plans only to throw myself into the challenge a little harder. Shamefully, I don't have all my meals planned yet and I have the added challenge of getting in some vegetable and fruit servings every day with Suzi. I am assuming that one serving is half a cup so I should be able to manage the challenge okay. She gave me a lower limit because of my smaller stomach Just takes little planning. I'm wishing you a great week. :)

  7. Meals are planned! Fun also scheduled and hopefully there will be a little extra fun to be had along the way. Have a great week!

  8. Farewell to Jack, what a great man. Sounds like a good week plan. I need to have some fun like a kindergartner this week for sure. Maybe I need to make macaroni art, sounds fun to me.

  9. I ALWAYS plan dinners, and try to decide breakfast and lunch the night before (but I've slacked off on that a little). We keep a white board in the kitchen and I use that to write down the menu for the week in case something comes up and I'm not the one cooking that night. Unplanned meals always go badly for me..

Something fun? My youngest brother is staying with us a few days on our couch, so no fun with th husband! With a second grader, family fun has to be done between homework and dinner during the week!

  10. Farewell to Jack. 96, he was amazing. I need to plan ahead. I am back home, hard on my treadmill, walking the dog and keeping it constant.
    have a great week.

  11. My meals are planned, i'm going out into the bitter cold at least 5 days this week! Fruits and veggies have been bought and i just put some rocking new tunes on my mp3 :) I'm kickin' it up a notch this week.

  13. re Jack, My father went to school with Jack (Dad was a freshman, Jack was a senior). Dad made the football team his freshman year and remembers Jack, the Big Man on Campus, advising him to work out between practices.

  14. A post with some sass!

I am just going to try to get out for a walk today. Slow and easy after being knocked over with the flu. But, I am ANTSY to get out! Last night, the hubs and I went around the block! What fun!

The best part of my week is that we are gearing up for a winter break to California and Disneyland with three of cutest granbdkids ever! I hope by Friday, I am back into walking my 5KM, because I am going to need my stamina!

  15. So are you saying that I can't do the macaroni art I had planned? Bummer.

  16. I felt sad hearing about Jack too. The fantastic thing about him is what a change he made to his life and living to an old age is one thing, but healthy like Jack - PRICELESS. Eat like a champion - woot, woot - I plan to because I get better meals when I plan. Have fun and if you want to make the macaroni art - go for it! Great pep talk today, Patrick.

  17. Plans, yep done and written down. Gonna do the best I can at getting to the gym, daycare has weird hours this week. You get to rocking and a rolling and here's my jab.....the Packers won, the Packers won.... :) Have to bug a bit.
Take care Patrick and have a blessed afternoon.

  18. Well, look at YOU, all organized and coordinated 'n such. I gonna follow your lead. Here I come!!!

  19. Sorry about your bears. They just didn't look like they came to play. I am ready for this week to. I am getting stronger each week that passes. I know you will knock this week out.

  20. Week chock full o' fun for me. I got 5k training today and Wednesday. Meals planned through Wednesday. Then leaving for al ong weekend Thursday that includes a cruise. Taking workout clothes with me as boat has a gym. Hoping that will keep the extra calories from buffets and booze at bay. Gonna be fun!

  21. Great job on planning meals a week in advance Patrick. I'm trying hard to plan all my meals for the day in advance, knowing that'll help me with success in losing weight. Cheers, Rick

  22. I really do think you should do the macaroni. Could be fun. Nonetheless, music helps make it all fun-ner. : )

  23. Meals planned-elliptical and P90x, no fun-BOOO.

    Polar's Mom

  24. I have my exercise figured out for the week, got some fun planned, but I stink on the meal planning. I am getting there. At least I'm trying new recipes, so it make meal prep a lot more fun. I'm working on it.

Just glad to be feeling better!!

    I'm focused!

  25. I love your enthusiasm, Patrick! And look at you exercise away! Now, I know that you had a minor setback on the scale immediately after new years...have you remedied all that now? Are you back on track with your eating and seeing a positive effect on the scale? I hope you are doing well! Thinking of you!

  26. You got this all going in your favor, great job with your planning!
