Responsibility 199, what is it?

Responsibility 199 is a belief; I believe that to be healthy and to increase my longevity I need to weigh 199 pounds or less...
Responsibility 199 is a need; I need to reduce my weight, reduce my percentage of body fat, and the elevated threat of disease my present condition presents...
Responsibility 199 is a mission; I recognize that achieving 199 will be a challenge, perhaps the hardest I have ever undertaken...
Responsibility 199 is a commitment; I acknowledge that I must commit to action, commit to change, commit to myself and those I love to achieve this mission, to increase my longevity...
Responsibility 199 is ME.

Day 269 - Do Tell; How Do You Feel About...

Day TEN of the New Year. Yes, the year is already approximately 1/36th over. Boy, that went fast.

So tell me, tell all of us, or if you insist just tell yourself... but do tell; How do you feel about yourself so far in 2011?

If you are a Resolution setter, how have you done sticking to them through 10 days?

Not a Resolutionist, Ok; how are you doing period in your quest to get/stay healthy?

Oh, and I must apologize to you. As I said this is day TEN. I should have asked you these questions on day TWO. Yes, I am assuming we all succeeded in accomplishing our intent on day ONE.

Simply my point is this; each and every day we wake up we need to ask ourselves that question; how are we doing period in our quest to get/stay healthy?

I get the sense some of us only ask ourselves this, and truly give it due thought, once a week or so. This is not a question to ponder only when we weigh-in once a week. This is not a question to ponder only when we flip the calendar page to a new month.

Daily, daily daily; talk to yourself. Challenge your self to be honest about what you are doing to achieve that which you want. If it is not working out as desired, then keep talking to yourself. Don't worry who is looking on wondering why you are taking to yourself, ignore the peanut gallery & just keep talking. Ask yourself, what has to change to get the momentum and progress you need? Do not accept excuses, don't blow smoke up your own backside.

Just keep talking and then get busy doing what you & yourself have agreed to.

Have a nice chat and a great day!

Oh, the picture above, just a random pic of me using the treadmill over the holidays; OORAH!

Responsibility 199 - Gotta Do It!!

  1. Such a great reminder for me...daily, yes daily.

  2. Day 10 and I'm doing awesome. In my blog I talked about the things I am pursuing in 2011 and as of right now I am absolutely on schedule. The two major things this year were to give up drinking for 2011 and begin a steady and slow pursuit of weight maintaining. Already I see how much just one small drink now and then before bed changes things. I guess you don’t realize how much something is a part of your life until its not there anymore. I never though I had a big problem with it (and still don’t) but now that it's gone I do see how much it was a part of my life. I started working out again so that part of 2011 is on track. Over all Patrick, I feel good about where I am at. Slow and steady is my plan for this year and that is something I learned from you. THANKS.

  3. I was thinking of being kinder. I lasted 8 hours. Oh well... Hope the snow treats you kindly..

  4. I been slacking cuz a little leg injury, but I'm back to the gym later this morning!

  5. YES! Challenge yourself to be HONEST! That is it, isn't it Patrick! Yup, I been preaching it too as you know! Who cares what others think about you quest to be healthy. Don't let them deter you.. there are sabotage people everywhere so don't let them bring you down.

    GO PATRICK! Love the pic!

  6. That's my motto this year, one day at a time and make it count!

  7. First off, love the picture. :) Secondly, I'm feeling pretty good about the new year so far. Like you said, the most important thing I'm focusing on is taking this journey one day at a time. Slow and steady wins the race. :)

  8. I'm struggling a bit with my desire to lose a fewe more pounds and get in better shape. The exercise is going well but the food choices are still demonizing me no matter how determined I am to sticking to plan. I made not real resolution but just decided to use 2011 to be a kinder more compassionate person. I've already been challenged though by a very intolerant person who attacked me on a message board. I defended myself and probably not in a kindly manner so I will have to work on that some more. It is hard to turn the other cheek when some one slaps you for no good reason, but I'm working on it.

  9. Not only have I broken all my resolutions, but 7 of the 10 commandments as well!

  10. DUDE! Look at that shoulder definition..Nice. Oh and thanks for reminding me to remind myself to challenge myself daily LOL. Seriously though...that is why I read these blogs everyday. To remind myself that this is a day at a time venture.

Keep up the great work man...the results are showing big time!

  11. I'm busting my ass. But that's because I mean to lose it all this year. There are no more excuses for me. 10 days into this and I'm still rockin' it!

  12. Daily? Sometimes I have to have conversations with myself HOURLY?! But it works and I am right on track to achieving my goals! Good lookin' out, Patrick!

  13. First, congrats on 55% and your NSV! You are doing AWESOME!

I'm feeling pretty good about myself so far. Lost 1 lb - not great but I feel I'm doing the right things. I have my conversations at just about every meal...think about the choices I'm making. It's obsessive but you do what you gotta do.

  14. You are a rock. You Rock!
A day? How about 5 minutes?
    That's my theme.
    5 freaking stinking little minutes.

  15. Yea, I think daily talking to myself is a plan I need to stick with. This is a one day or like Anne said 5 mins at a time deal :) for the rest of our lives. Who better to talk to than ourselves :) Way to go on the 55% too Patrick. So far my year is going well.

  16. I'm feeling like I have come a long way, but I have a long way to go. Right now I'm looking forward to my trip this week and just trying to find a way to travel without blowing it completely. I love what you wrote about self talk. Good advice!

  17. One meal at a time. Do the next one right. Then do the next one right. And so on...

  18. I'm feeling wonderful! I know it won't always be that way, but I'm willing to try :-)

You are absolutely right, check in day in and day out. How else do you get in touch with your body and feelings and combat the yuckies?

  19. Been doing terrible so far Patrick. I've blamed this on the flu i've had for the best part of 2 weeks, but it's just another pathetic excuse. Hoping to resume normal service tomorrow now that I am no longer aching from head to toe and coughing up a lung.

Keep posting the good vibes dude, they always help.

  20. I struggled some while sick, and I still have a long way to go, but I feel like I've gotten better at finding solutions for obstacles, if that makes sense!
