Responsibility 199, what is it?

Responsibility 199 is a belief; I believe that to be healthy and to increase my longevity I need to weigh 199 pounds or less...
Responsibility 199 is a need; I need to reduce my weight, reduce my percentage of body fat, and the elevated threat of disease my present condition presents...
Responsibility 199 is a mission; I recognize that achieving 199 will be a challenge, perhaps the hardest I have ever undertaken...
Responsibility 199 is a commitment; I acknowledge that I must commit to action, commit to change, commit to myself and those I love to achieve this mission, to increase my longevity...
Responsibility 199 is ME.

Day 159 - My First VLog

Out of no where as I was wrapping up typing this post I got the notion to try a vlog. So, at the end of the post there you see a video of me rambling on for 8-9 minutes. Much of what I wrote here is in that video, and there are a few tidbits in the video not in the post. So if you have the time, give it a look, let me know what you think. Sound and picture quality Ok? Just used a basic digital camera, no fancy equipment. Hope you enjoy, it was fun to record, play back and stick in this post. Now on to the post itself...

Seems like this week I have been slowly catching up on news from last week which I didn't get around to bloggin about. So here is another tidbit from last Friday...

Finally we closed on the purchase of hunting land in west-central Wisconsin; that picture there is an aerial view of the the general area we bought. Doesn't look like much, but it is a haven for deer & turkey.

We've been working on this deal for about five months now. HERE I blogged about it way back on day 28 when we started exploring the purchase. Two & a half weeks from now we will be up there for the youth hunt, can't wait to get the kids set up and watch them fill the freezer. Us adults get our turn the following weekend and then there will be four more open seasons in November through early January.

Lots of good cardio opportunities await me in walking up and down the hills of that land. Climbing up and down tree stands. And hopefully hauling hundreds of pounds worth of deer away.

All went well yesterday with the surgeon and the removal of more tissue from my cheek. So just healing to be done now on that topic. Here is a pic of the sport new face bandage, just a mess of steri-strips. Twice as many of them as the first go-around. Probably twice as hard to keep it all from getting wet too...
Walking, walking, walking is what is in store for me for exercise this next week. With the changing seasons the weather is very comfortable so I have zero issues getting out there and burning some calories by foot.

The weekend is fast approaching folks, are you getting plans for fun and health together for it?

  1. Hey Patrick!,
Wow, I think Vlogs are neat. Funny how we think you sound when we read this in our own head, and then hear you. Its a bit different. I am so jealous of your property and hunting plans. What kind of rifle do you have? I am not a hunter, but I do like to shoot at the range. I would like to hunt, just did not come from a family of hunters and never had the opportuntity. I would love to hunt. Keep your posts and Vlogs coming. They are good.

  2. CHECK IT OUT! Vlog of Patrick!!! I think your voice was exactly as I thought it would sound, but I half expected you to be a little hyper and jumping around all the time because in your posts you seem like quite the joker! :-) Ha ha! It was great hearing about your day! And congrats on the new land bought!

  3. Patrick the rock star (who doesn't follow Idol). Great job. Glad the face doesn't hurt. I hope it heals soon and you can get back on track with your exercise. Hunting. I used to live in PA when I was in elementary school--I remember the man next door ALways got a deer and then hung it from a tree in his back yard. All the neighbor kids (me included) were goggle-eyed. And I refused to taste the venison when he gave a piece to our family. Funny. Hope you all have a great time on your new property and that you get your deer(s).

  6. The voice for me fits the face and persona.
I like the vlog – you could continue in my opinion. I like to see that ticker going down!
Your attitude toward the doctors and surgeries is remarkable. Keep the positive energy alive.

  8. I liked the vlog. Feels like we get to know you even better. I wonder if you can give a primer on how to upload the vids to youtube. I've never done it (or looked into it).

I keep thinking of your doctor visit. I hope you keep your head up. Now that you know what it was, you know what to look for in the future, right?

  12. Liking the vlog idea - Dan over at Darwin's Table does them too and it can save a load of typing...plus we get to meet the actual blogger which is cool. I'll have to get round to getting a web-cam one of these days.

I totally relate to the "being a big guy in the heat"...no feeling more uncomfortable on the ego, not to mention the chafing. lol

...so, are you thinking of hurting yourself?

  19. Congrats on the land purchase! Before I watched the vlog I was about to tell you I'd be in your neighborhood in a couple a weeks, but as coincidence would have it you'll be heading to WI about the time I'm there. My hubby is going to WI the first weekend in Oct, and I'll be in Chicago 2nd weekend. I love WI, but haven't spent much time in the area you now own a bit of. We have family in Wausau and access to a cottage near Minoqua, a cousin lives in the west central bit someplace but she usually comes to Wausau when we are there so we've not been to her place. I'm babbling.

You're adorable, and ooze kindness when you speak. I love the vlog. And I love orange.
