Happy Hump Day! What, you thought this post title implied something else?
Hmmm… well anyhow, a trio of thoughts is what I have for you on this Wednesday.
First…
Riddle time again I say, what better day to have some fun than hump day.
Have an idea what that is a picture of above? Don't be shy, take a guess. This one should be easy, I think.
I'll reveal the answer tomorrow, or perhaps earlier if someone guesses correctly.
Second…
I'd like to introduce you to a new blogger I've made friends with this week; meet Phil…
Reading his posts he appears to be in the midst of mental wrangling similar to what I endured that first month. He's off to a good start, and searching for that point where the first clumsy steps along the path to better health become discernable steps and then a comfortable stride.
In the past he has yo-yo'd in part due to the use of various diet plans out there. He has come up with some guidelines which are in a sense rules but not necessarily strict and binding; which for me rigidity has been an issue for me. And so on, Phil and I seem to sit in similar boats with similar missions.
This quote from one of his posts particularly drew my attention, and a chuckle, "…I'm not feeling hungry at all but I am ALWAYS in the mood for naughty things like cakes and chocolate!" I echo that on many days, anyone else?
If you have time today stop by, extend a virtual handshake, say Hi & welcome Phil to the community of responsibility juggernauts.
Third…
Last night I set out to map a longer Neighborhood loop; the Neighborhood III loop. This loop is 5.1 miles & I did it in 84:59 minutes. Math Alert - What is that, approximately 17 minutes per mile?
So I repeated an NSV I listed on the left side of my blog some time ago, "Discovering new, awesome, places to walk ". Actually it was the first NSV I ever shared, nice to see that NSV's are like boomerangs and come back. Perhaps I have shared this about myself before, and I guess I touched on it above; I get bored easy. That may well be why I have never succeeded in using any of the commercially marketed diet/weight-loss plans; Their structure bores on me after a couple weeks or so. This is also why I have sought out & mapped out about a dozen different walking courses; it would drive me to yawn myself inside-out if I had to walk the same course each time.
Do you get bored easy & need frequent variety in your diet & exercise? Or are you one that thrives best in structure & repetition?
Responsibility 199 - Gotta Do It!!
I'll go check out Phil's blog. I actually don't get bored with an exercise routine. For me, the structure is what keeps me grounded. As for diets..heck yes! I'm working on getting more healthily creative in the kitchen. My guess on the picture is a jello mold or the pink slime from Ghostbusters 2. That's all I got this early in the morning.
ReplyDeleteSquished Dime !
ReplyDeleteThe mole that was removed, when seen under the microscope...
ReplyDeleteYour picture looks like a clear dish/bowl sitting atop a pink/red plate to me...
ReplyDeleteI thought first of a dish and plate but then I thought some kind of wax seal. Thought of a bolt head too but they are 6 sided. So I have no idea lol. Way to go on that long walk you beat me I only did 4 1/2 lol.
ReplyDeletebolt to a FIRE HYDRANT?
ReplyDeleteHiya Patrick. I just wanted to say hi to you today. Hi! (I second bobblyb's fire hydrant guess.)
ReplyDeleteI do better with structure and repetition... at least until lately. Now I seem to have lost my structure and am struggling to get it back. I have no idea what that thing is but as my daughter is due any day now I have to say it resembles a cervix.
ReplyDeleteIts a foil cap on a bottle top.
ReplyDeleteI have a constant variety :) I try to do weights, yoga, elliptical, running, and some walking each week. If I get bored I get a dvd from the library or like you walk somewhere different.
ReplyDeleteOriginally I thought it was an upside down silo cup. Flippy cup anyone? But then I noticed the grass so I think it is the overhead view of a construction cone!
I was almost afraid to click on your post headline today ... LOL You are a nut!
ReplyDeleteI think the picture is of some sort of knob or bolt - but the pink color is throwing me off.
New kinda comdom? Blaming that guess on you for your submiminal suggestion of "hump day..." :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing us in NewGuyPhil's direction. I actually posted some love re: you, Klein and Jack in my post today. Takes manly men to venture into the world of weight loss and blog about it. Good to add Phil to my reading list.
Yeah...that's not the post I expected. It was good mind you, but not as exciting as I had thought. Is it a small candle on a glass dish?
ReplyDeleteI get bored sometimes, but sometimes I get in a groove and eat the same things over and over. I am LOVING my new TKD workout. I practice all the time and that means I'm working out and it doesn't even feel like I'm working out! Sooo glad I took that risk and tried something new. Maybe you should too??
Wow, some great, and surprising guesses. The correct answer is up there in those you have collectively offered. A hint to help you narrow it down, it is not a cervix! How would I get a picture of that? :-)
ReplyDeleteDFTF... TKD, I can see me giving it a try at some point.
You are too funny! I am crazy busy, but had to see what you were writing about with Three Way Hump! Patrick, you certainly have a gift for expressing yourself. I like Allan's guess "the mole.." but I think I will go with the dish plate guess.
ReplyDeletePic looks like a jelly mould, upside down?! But also like wax sealed with a kingly emblem ring.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shout out today - and thanks to y'all who posted a comment on my blog - i shall be adding your good selves to my blog roll shortly.
Patrick, you rock.. OH YEAH!
ReplyDeleteMe, I am actually a mixture of same ole & mix it up.. I know it seems that it is not so but it is.... my outside jog route is the same pretty much (due to being out early by myself) but my gym workouts.. change it up!!! Food, I have been pretty good at adding things in here & there & varying it up to keep the bod guessing...
Close up of inside a bottle lid, but the Octagon shape is throwing me off.
ReplyDeleteWhen you go to Jack In The Box, and you get a shake, and they fill it too full...... this is the impression the lid makes on the ice cream. Lick it up!
