Responsibility 199, what is it?

Responsibility 199 is a belief; I believe that to be healthy and to increase my longevity I need to weigh 199 pounds or less...
Responsibility 199 is a need; I need to reduce my weight, reduce my percentage of body fat, and the elevated threat of disease my present condition presents...
Responsibility 199 is a mission; I recognize that achieving 199 will be a challenge, perhaps the hardest I have ever undertaken...
Responsibility 199 is a commitment; I acknowledge that I must commit to action, commit to change, commit to myself and those I love to achieve this mission, to increase my longevity...
Responsibility 199 is ME.

Day 185 - Quickie Food Love

Welcome to Tuesday, the only day of the week with 7 letters in it.

Bringing you a little food love this day. The picture there was made possible by my son Cameron. In that tray you see there marinading away are six venison backstrap chops. Picked his meat up while dropping off my doe for processing yesterday. These were quite yummy, sorry I didn't take a after-cooking picture. Was just too anxious to get them on a plate and start feasting.

Being able to share dinner with the family was the high point of my day Monday. Seems I brought a head cold home with me this weekend and that had me low on energy and enthusiasm much of the day. A bit better today I believe, hopefully this clears out as the day wears on as I'd like to get in some exercise this evening.

Yesterday I ate very well, there was no urge to eat junk because I felt like junk. This morning's breakfast was fruit & juice so I am off to a good start here. As long as my mental game doesn't get sick i wont suffer any illness related setbacks.

Ok, that's about all I have in me this morning. Hope all of you are doing well, being healthy and having fun!

  1. Great to hear you're feeling better ♥

I've never eaten venison! So curious but I wouldn't even know where I could get any here and would probably cost you a car or something :) Next time I'm abroad I really hope I can try some!!

  7. Chops look really good! What's in your marinade? Hope you are feeling better soon! The cold thing seems to be kicking in full-force aroung here too. Trying to avoid my Son like the Plague, as he's got it too! Take care!

  8. I also would like to know what your marinade is. We have most of our venison processed into burger or sausage.. They look great..

  9. My venison marinade, last night I drizzled each side in Worcestershire sauce and seasoned with lime-pepper and a dash of seasoned-salt. Since the weather was junk out I chose not to grill as I would have preferred. So I sautéed garlic & onion in butter and then when the onions took on some color I added the venison and slowly sautéed them to medium rare.

The butter adds fat so it is not the healthiest preparation, grilling would have been better. I do not care much for pan-cooked meat because it dries out the meat. When I choose to go that route I usually add some fat to the recipe to help prevent that.

How about you, do you have a favorite way to prepare wild game?
