October is just flying by here, isn't it? Before you know it Halloween will be here. My wife already has candy at the ready. Last year I would have eaten a bag of it by now and forced her to have to buy more. not this year, no way!
My boy Andrew turns 17 this week; Happy Birthday son!
Our immediate & extended family has six birthday's in all in October. My brother-in-law Scott turned 49 earlier this month. And both of my wife's parents had birthday's earlier this month as well. Two more of our kids have them later in the month. So more happy birthday posts to come.
This week I have NSV's to share, well look to the picture for a pair of them...
First, that shirt there has been in my closet for 2 if not 3 years. A month or so back it was still too snug for my liking. Today I am wearing it with a new pair of slacks my wife bought me. She bought me 3 new pairs of 42's this past weekend. This pair of slacks is 'olive' in color and I couldn't find a shirt to go with it, that is what prompted me to try this one on and see if I were ready for it. How about that, this morning it fit just fine; maybe still a wee-bit snug. It felt good so today is it's maiden voyage.
Second, two more holes have been punched in my belt this week. Yes, I still have not purchased a new belt. Likely a new belt is in my near future as my wife is getting tired of seeing me 'play' with this one. The good news for this old belt, in addition to having punched 7 holes in it since April; it now wraps far enough around on my left side for the tip to go under the belt loop over there. There you see me holding the belt at its tip; thus the good news is that I don't need to use the double-sided tape anymore to keep it from flapping about.
What is your latest NSV? Come on, I know you've had one or more you may have neglected to share with the class...

The best of feelings, THE VERY BEST OF FEELINGS, in a weight-loss endeavor is the punching of new holes in the belt. Those holes are the mile markers of your success. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteAre you gonna end up getting that belt displayed as art in your living room :) It has a history, fights, adjustments to new regiment, and is a witness to a new world order! Hallelujah!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm beginning to regret I don't use belts! :D
ReplyDeleteThat is AWESOME!!! Congrats!!!! My latest NSV was trying on pants that were too tight last month, and now I need a belt to wear them! YAY!
ReplyDeleteMy latest NSV is that I beat my high score on Wii Fit "Basic Run" this morning with a score of 85%. Previously it was 60%. I have no idea what that means, but I know I'm winning!
ReplyDeleteI love measuring with belts. Awesome accomplishment!! Hang that belt somewhere proudly when it's retired.
ReplyDeleteNSV's are so cool, and sometimes we have to depend on them when the scale is being arbitrary! Congratulations!! And please pass along happy birthday wishes to Andrew!
ReplyDeleteMy latest NSV was yesterday and enjoying my running!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on you NSVs, Patrick and Happy Birthday to your son. We have several birthday coming during the next few months too. My latest NSV was that I bought a Halloween Costume that wasn't in the plus size department. Last years is much too large and I found that infinitely satisfying!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Andrew! :)
ReplyDeleteNSV... Getting through Roy Cohen's exercises "roystyle" with the best form I could for that day. Took a lot of concentration and focus. But I did it!!!
I don't think I knew about the double sided tape. Interesting. Keep punching those holes and I would even say dont ever get rid of it. If you decide to take it off at some point send it to the Smithsonian!
ReplyDeleteNSV? I ran in the parking lot with my girls last night, not out of breath.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new belt holes. Ha ha ha. Belt hole. Sounds funny
WOOT for NSVs! I love going "shopping" through old clothes.
ReplyDeleteWOOT for October birthdays. There are 4 in my family (plus 2 late September). In college there were about 7 friends all born the first week of October...in the same year so yeah the 21st-s were awesome!
Congratulations Patrick - those are fabulous NSVs. I think my latest victory was being able to wrap the "small" towel around myself the other day. We have a few huge bath towels that I always use, but I was forced to go for the small one that used to gape open on me. It worked! ;)
ReplyDeletei can relate to the punching of new belt holes - i have notched up two so far, and the third is just a week or so away as it's getting slack again. Also, i am now able to wear a pair of trousers that have been sitting, brand-new and untouched, in my wardrobe for 2-3 years. I have some brilliant clothes that are just waiting for me, spurring me on! lol
ReplyDeleteThat's a whole lotta birthdays you got to celebrate this month my friend - do you have to buy presents during the year to prevent a big hit in October each year? Good news on the NSV's - lookin' snappy sir.
Great NSV! But seriously dude...get a new freakin' belt already! My own NSV??? Walking around the zoo with my kids without my legs hurting, without feeling exhausted or run down after. My heel hurt but that's a separate issue...felt good to be able to go with my kids and not feel like an old lady when we were done.
ReplyDeleteFantastic NSV and I say keep the belt. Keep punching new holes in it until you're where you want to be - I love that you have that reminder of your success right there with you every single day. My latest NSV is silly - choosing to wear this pair of brown pants I own on Mondays because they are getting so baggy I just know I have to stop wearing them very, very soon, but I love them so much I haven't done it. I choose Monday, because I'm not sure I'll still be able to wear them. They may have seen their last day at my office.
ReplyDeletePatrick, so proud of you & I bet you are of yourself! That belt is a visual reminder of how far you have come so NEVER throw it away! PLUS, never get back to wear it fits in the "normal mode holes".
ReplyDeleteLike you, we have so many bdays & such from Sept thru January.. crazy times!!!
NSV - still being able to be crazy me in the gym & almost 53! :-)
Love the belt thing and I would definitely save it for sure. Happy Birthday to Andrew, they sure do grow fast don't they? Hmmmm NSV's I'm never very good at them though I'm sure I have lots. Usually for me it's about the kids, seeing them making better choices, those are the most rewarding to me.
