Enough is enough, a phrase that applies in oh so many ways to life. Certainly being obese itself has that day dawn where we stand up, or stay seated, and say enough is enough! And those of us who are parents can agree we regularly take a child aside and demand, enough is enough!
Well yesterday was an enough is enough moment for me, enacted by my wife (pictured to left) and fueled by my own lack of action to get new clothes that fit my lessor sized me better. Yep, she took me clothes shopping after work.
Now I've never cashed in my reward for achieving 40% of my weight loss goal. A combination of never finding the hitch-haul I wanted on sale and a realization I may not actually need one. So this enough is enough event was also made possible by allowing myself to accept it by making it my long-ago earned 40% reward. Oh who am I kidding, she would have taken me shopping irregardless of my delay to reward myself.
My work wardrobe used to consist of trousers with tightly fitting 46" waistlines and 3XL shirts which fit as needed in the gut but tended to be baggyish in the chest. Being apple shaped its always been hard to find shirts which were cut well for me in both gut & chest. Well no, finding such a shirt was a dream and rare find to be honest.
Now that wardrobe has been replaced with comfortably fitting trousers that are 42" in the waist and 2XL shirts that fit well and have me less conscious about that gut to chest differential. There you see me checking out one such shirt. Like?
Have you rewarded yourself lately for your accomplishments?
Have a wondrously awesome weekend!

Good for you and good for your wife. Rewards are an important thing!
ReplyDeletePatrick, you are doing fantastic!! New clothes are important. Thank God for wives. :)
ReplyDeleteNew Clothes... what an awesome NSV..Congrat man, you are doing awesome!
ReplyDeleteI would not be surprised if the new clothes give you a new incentive to keep on keeping on.
ReplyDeleteYay, Love shopping for new, smaller clothes!!! WTG Patrick!!
ReplyDeleteAnd to answer your question, yes..a few weeks ago i bought some smaller pants and still 'priss' around in them even if im not going anywhere, lol
I'll bet your wife had a lot of fun!!
ReplyDeleteNew clothes are a great inspiration to not gain and to keep up the great work.
I've had to buy some new jeans and it's definitely inspiring to see new numbers fit.
Congratulations!! I'm in a time with very few casual clothes. I just don't want to spend the $$$ on something that I won't need very long. I have to have nice clothes for work, but home - forget about it!! Right now I have only one pair of jeans that I'm wearing on the weekends. I'm waiting for them to come out of the dryer now so that I can go out! They will only fit when they are right out of the dryer. They'll be too loose in a couple of hours.
ReplyDeletePatrick--I'm happy for you. It's great to be able to wear clothes that look good on you. I love to reward myself. I bought earrings yesterday--for my newly skinny ears!
ReplyDeletePatrick, great to see your awesome progress and new experience with the clothes. I had similar dimensions at the start and am down a shirt size and a pants size (not yet two). Pretty exciting stuff.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to read that you are celebrating your success with some new clothing. I'm sure you'll feel better in them and look like a million bucks! I was actually just blogging about my reluctance to buy new clothes as I lose weight. I'm not sure if it's my frugality or the fact that I'm one of those rare women that actually loathes shopping. ;)
ReplyDeletenew clothes are sooo fun and rewarding!!!
ReplyDeleteYAY! Congrats Patrick! I can't wait to see pics of you in your new clothes! :-) Bravo!

ReplyDeleteI'm going on a cruise in a few weeks to celebrate my one year health anniversary. Very excited.
Congrats! That's awesome :)
ReplyDeletePatrick, that is the best NSV!!!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI don't have extra $$ so just being fit & healthy has to be my reward for now.
Was very happy to see a belt in her hands!
