Responsibility 199, what is it?

Responsibility 199 is a belief; I believe that to be healthy and to increase my longevity I need to weigh 199 pounds or less...
Responsibility 199 is a need; I need to reduce my weight, reduce my percentage of body fat, and the elevated threat of disease my present condition presents...
Responsibility 199 is a mission; I recognize that achieving 199 will be a challenge, perhaps the hardest I have ever undertaken...
Responsibility 199 is a commitment; I acknowledge that I must commit to action, commit to change, commit to myself and those I love to achieve this mission, to increase my longevity...
Responsibility 199 is ME.

Day 203 - Candy Go Away

Fruit Count: 129 - We have collectively eaten 121 pieces of fruit the past three days. Mandy and Lanie are leading the way having eaten 7 & 6 pieces respectively yesterday alone. Our goal of 199 is being reeled in slow and steady, excellent. Keeping reeling it in folks; in, chew swallow and shout out how many pieces you eat today!

Here you go, here's some candy! I got candy... come on, you know you want some. Ugh, wrong. Bags of candy like this popped up all over the office last week. Parents bringing in leftover halloween candy they didn't give out, or, the candy their kids brought home just to get it out of the house. A brilliant idea really, and one that works as people of all shapes, heights, colors and smells flock to these bags and empty them in no time flat. Hopefully next week this phenomenon will abate.

There is my caloric intake for Friday. Liking those percentages much better than earlier in the week. The total calories consumed are lower than desired, especially for an exercise day. And I had an hour'ish before bed of noticeable hunger. Usually when I hunger, I eat. But this time I chose to just accept that hunger in fear that if I went for a final snack to quench it I may over indulge. Not sure why I felt unsure of myself, but I'm glad I recognized it and made a decision versus ignoring it all and just diving into a vat of ice cream. Accepting hunger is definitely not a behavior I can embrace for a lifetime, that I understand.

Exercise, as I said I got that in. Put in a 2.25 mile walk after work on a crisp 40F late afternoon. Chilly! Didn't time time the walk. I just set out  to get in the miles, and enjoy the peace while I ran down the battery on my ipod.

Saturday already... on the docket this morning is weight training and maybe some more cardio. Then later this afternoon/evening a great date is planned with my wife. We'll be going to the rifle range and then out to dinner and perhaps a movie. Looking forward to it!

What does Saturday have in store for you?

Responsibility 199 - Gotta Do It!!

  1. Haha, I totally send the leftover candy to my husband's workplace. I do the same thing with leftover deserts. Selfish, but I don't care. :)

  2. WTG on your day friday! I told my kids to pick out what they wanted then throw the rest away...of course that was yesterday, i should have done it Monday ;-)

  3. wooooo hoo! I can't tell you what a difference this fruit thing is making. The scale likey! Now if I'd do my exercise as well, I'd be amazing. Got to move it-move it today!

  4. My kids are really digging the fruit thing as well. Our favorite right now, eating kiwi with a spoon out of the skin.

  5. No candy here!!! Just completed a 5 mile run, think I will relax the rest of the day!

  6. Hey, Patrick, put me down for 3 fruits for you today. (And for me.)

  7. HAHA, I did the same thing to our left over candy. I sent it away to be eaten by others :p.

I am loving your NSV section. It's getting mighty long. :)

  8. I noticed similar candy bags showing up at my office this week. A friend was joking about how the "good stuff" (ie. chocolate) never seems to make it into the office though....just those darn caramels, gum and lollipops. Ha! I managed to avoid it and I'm glad to hear you did the same. Keep up the good work!

  9. Rocking it Patrick! Congrats!!!

Add a couple more fruit pieces from me from yesterday!

    Have a wonderful "date". :-)

  10. I'm staying away from the candy!

If I get hungry before bed, I try to ignore it too! I usually fall asleep pretty fast so a rumbling stomach doesn't bother me.

No Saturday plans. Just finally responding to blogs and watching Xanadu with the daughter!

  11. Oooh date night! to the rifle range?! HA! Hilarious, I love it! I hope you have a fantastic, romantic evening together!!!

  12. doggone it. I only had 5, but one of them was at Mandy's house so she would have one less available to her. Foiled again! I had tons of veggies in stir fry though . . . otherwise i'd try to down some more fruit to beat her!

And seriously - I saw her and I don't even think she's overweight anymore. She's totally faking.

  13. I had TWO today, Patrick. (Banana, blackberries) ...

I need to get better about posting my fruit for you. I didn't include the fruit from yesterday ... is it too late? (2 more)

I normally get 3-4 fruit servings per day, but I run out of day before getting the last piece in, this week.

  14. I am totally bad. I love to bake, so I make stuff and send it to work. I figure it's not my fault it they eat it. SO BAD!!!
