Responsibility 199, what is it?

Responsibility 199 is a belief; I believe that to be healthy and to increase my longevity I need to weigh 199 pounds or less...
Responsibility 199 is a need; I need to reduce my weight, reduce my percentage of body fat, and the elevated threat of disease my present condition presents...
Responsibility 199 is a mission; I recognize that achieving 199 will be a challenge, perhaps the hardest I have ever undertaken...
Responsibility 199 is a commitment; I acknowledge that I must commit to action, commit to change, commit to myself and those I love to achieve this mission, to increase my longevity...
Responsibility 199 is ME.

Day 232-233 Hack Hack, Sneeze

First order of business is the riddle from Friday, there it is; a medical waste bin. At least I think that is the right name for the can where the staff disposes of the used rubber gloves, IV lines, etc... more accurately the riddle picture was of the access on the lid; yeah this one was a tough one.

Figured a tough one would be appropriate for December as this month usually is a tough one on those trying to lose weight. Your guesses proved that it was indeed tough too. Excellent & creative guesses as always ranging from a swimming pool drain to the inside of my colon (if only it were that clean) to a plastic thing from a box of pizza (Papa John's comes to mind). There were a couple that reference a bucket also, perhaps we can say those were closest. But lets just call it a tie between all that participated for this one shall we.

Ok, second order of business, the 13.1 mile walk, jog or crawl from Sunday. Christine put this event together and she completed hers in impressive fashion. Be sure and stop by her blog and give her a high-five!

As for myself, nothing high-five worthy here... On Friday I came down with a cold, Saturday I tried to medicate and kick it to the curb. Sunday I awoke and told myself I was feeling better and went out and set off to click off some miles...
Getting psyched for the a.m. attempt, lets hope everyone shoveled...
Didn't take long to understand that as much as I wanted to feel better I was void of energy. The 20 degree air actually was refreshing for a bit but it was a burden too which was a definite signal for me to cut this short, I got in just 2 miles. Normally I am not bothered by the cold and have no issue getting out and enjoying it. But when ill, the cold is not as a welcomed. Back inside I took it easy most of the day and then headed back out in the evening to get in some more miles...
Blurry shot of my evening walk in the neighborhood, aint the lights pretty!
Oh I had delusions of grandeur to try and get in the rest of the 13.1 miles but another 2 miles was all I had in my tank. Frustrating... So I'll have to get out there and get in the rest of those miles this week.

Feeling better today, at work, and looking forward to a great week.

Hope all had a great weekend and that you have a healthy week planned; do you?

  1. Sick and still got in some miles...you are a rock star lol! You did better than me, I was sick for a few days last week and I only managed the gym once while I was sick.

Let's take on this week strong!

  3. good job with your attempt at the 13.1!! Atleast if you have to walk at night this is a pretty time of year to do it, as long as the pesky cold doesn't stop you.

  7. Sorry you're feeling sick. Good job on getting out there anyways and, as frustrating as it was, it was important to listen to your body.

  9. Feel better soon, Patrick. I love doing my run in the evening these days and checking out all of the outdoor decorations. I find myself making weird little bargains with myself, like "Run until you get to the Homer Simpson house....run until you get to the penguin house". It definitely keeps things interesting!

  10. By "representation of your colon," I meant "entry port to a waste disposal biohazard bin" ... wasn't that clear? Ahem. hehehehe

That WAS a tough one, Patrick. Kudos to the bucket people!! That is about as close as you could hope for this month.

Sorry you are still under the weather. I hope it doesn't last as long as a Chicago winter.

    Get well soon!!

  11. Just take care of yourself & get better soon! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr is all I can say to that weather! I go out on the high 30's here in CA as it can get that cold in the early morn.

Maybe save up for a treadmill for the home! :-)

  12. Indeed, well done on still dragging yourself outdoors for 4 miles whilst under the weather. Sounds like a positive and permanent change in behaviour to me - even though you're a bit ill your body still craves some movement! NSV, perhaps?

  15. I most have caught your cold! I have been coughing, sneezing and sniffling. And I rarely get SICK!!!

Yep, you also have a lot of snow (IL??) like us here in MN. Good thing most people keep their sidewalks reasonable so us walkers can get out and about.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and lending support. I will be back!
