Responsibility 199, what is it?

Responsibility 199 is a belief; I believe that to be healthy and to increase my longevity I need to weigh 199 pounds or less...
Responsibility 199 is a need; I need to reduce my weight, reduce my percentage of body fat, and the elevated threat of disease my present condition presents...
Responsibility 199 is a mission; I recognize that achieving 199 will be a challenge, perhaps the hardest I have ever undertaken...
Responsibility 199 is a commitment; I acknowledge that I must commit to action, commit to change, commit to myself and those I love to achieve this mission, to increase my longevity...
Responsibility 199 is ME.

Day 130 - Wasabi to Favorites

Morning, morning, morning... Good Morning!

How was everyones Tuesday? Awesome I hope. A good one for me. A relaxed one for the most part if you discount work. Exercise was a simple 1+ mile walk/stroll with my wife. She's been trying to get out and walk a little bit further each day as part of her recovery. Her recovery from surgery has been just fine with the only real set back being a rough summer-cold she has been battling.

Yesterday I discovered a new snack, Wasabi peas. Nope, I have never had them before. Never! Until yesterday. Took a look at the nutrition panel and was pleasantly surprised and the numbers. I've been relying on allot of fruit for my snacks and has searching for another veggie alternative; found it! Have you tried Wasabi peas before?

Favorites, kids ask us questions all the time; they are kids so they are supposed to. Over time they ask many questions on 'what is your favorite _________?'

Here are some I have fielded over the years; My favorite...
Actor: John Wayne, no debate needed, next question...
Actress: Whoever the leading actress is alongside John Wayne in the movie being watched right now
Candy: Snickers with Whoppers a close second, Almond Joy a solid third
Car: From a practical perspective, I am a Ford man & I am an SUV man; Ford Expedition is what I drive. From a wish upon a star perspective, Porsche 911 Carrera 4S; someday, when I can fit into one!
Color: Orange is by far my fave. The color I cannot get comfortable with is Green. Perhaps stems from my hatred for the Green Bay Packers, or the one time Minnesota North Stars who are now in Dallas
Comic strip: Dilbert, I can relate in so many ways
Dog: Toy German Shepard (about 1/2 size of the normal breed), that is what we had as a kid. If I ever have another dog it just has to have a cool bark, size won't matter; just yappy whinny barking.
Island: Huh? How should I know. Simply whichever island is there to rescue me when the plan or ship goes down, that will be my favorite forever & ever
Johnny Depp Movie: My daughter's inquiry, to her surprise it was not Jack Sparrow. Rather I choose Don Juan in his earlier film titled "Don Juan DeMarco", Maybe Marlon Brando brought out the best in Johnny
Melon: Odd question from a kid; but mine is Watermelon. I am not big on Honeydew and really dislike Cantaloupe even though it is orange, go figure
Pie: My Grandma Bella's Chess Pie (a very sugary / buttery custard style pie), RIP Grandma
Season: Fall, I am a hunter and fall is when I get to hunt. It is also the time of year when I stop sweating so much
Sport: NASCAR first and foremost. Hockey second through fourth. Then Football, Baseball and Basketball. Is Beer Pong considered a sport?
Subject in school: If allowed I answer Lunch. But if not allowed I answer History, I am a History-Buff, any history class gets my full attention

Any of those come off as odd to you?
How about you, what are your favorites for the above (or favorite whatever)...

Responsibility 199 - Gotta Do It!!

  1. Never tried those peas.....

As for favs... loved reading yours. Funny that the things that came to my mind were fav movie, fav food & fav workout.

Workout of course is WEIGHTS!!! Food - a hard one but I got to say breads/bagels & my fav flavor cookie treats.

Fav movie is harder.. soooo many but I always really liked One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest among many others!

  2. My brother got me hooked on wasabi peas. The nice thing about them is that they have a built-in mechanism for portion control-they are hot and the effect is cumulative!

  3. NASCAR is **not** a sport, Patrick.

Dammit. I hate it when we disagree on major philosophical issues.

  4. Favs: Actor = depends on genre, Actress = Olivia de Havilland, Candy = evil, Car = Mercedes, anything old-style, Color = Blue, Comic Strip = um ..., Dog = German Shepard, Island = Tie (so far) Bermuda, Kauai, Captiva, JD Movie = Pirates of the... series, Melon = Watermelon, Pie = lemon meringue, Season = autumn (BIG time), Sport = football (go Pack go) followed by baseball, School Subject = history

  5. LOL - I have to agree with Christine on that one but I'll let her do the dirty work and argue with you. I have never even heard of wasabi peas but am now anxious to try them. really? Never liked orange much. I've been a maroon or blue person for most of my life (not together of course). Johnny Depp film...believe it or not..not a big fan. He was great in Benny and Joon though. That's all I got. Hope your Wednesday is as good as your Tuesday!

  6. ooohhhh I love wasabi...I need to look for the wasabi peas

  7. Love Snickers, Watermelon, and dilbert. I like From Hell with Depp. Can't pick a favorite actor, although John Wayne is a classic, though way before my time. Maybe Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, or brad pitt. I love pit bulls, my favorite dog ever. Too many favorite colors, I always answer black and gold due to my frat. Pie is thanksgiving pumpkin pie with cool whip on it (must be cool whip) NASCAR? Really- Nonathletic Sport Centered Around Rednecks- Really Patrick? my favorite sport is whatever (except basketball) that people will go otuside and play with me. Love to get outside and play football or baseball with real people (not on tv or playstation), next is UFC, or rugby. Also, love history, I am a nerd.

  8. LOL... I see I am getting some NASCAR love from this post. All I gotta say is Go Greg Biffle!

  9. Wasabi peas? Those are like really hot right? I think I'll pass.

Way to help your wife get moving. Love learning your faves. Snickers is my favorite candy too, maybe because I think the peanuts are healthy.

  10. Wasabi peas = good. Love your comment about the colour green (lol), but that's my favourite colour...and purple. Dilbert is hilarous and I learned something - I didn't know there were toy German Shep. I love GS, in any event. My favourite season is Fall too, because of the lower temps (still warm) and the wonderful fall colours...and the kids are back to school (although my kids are in their late 20's).

  11. I don't like Wasabi. I don't get Nascar. Don't dis my Cowboys, man. I LOVE cantelope. I HATE orange as this is the color of my hated TEXAS longhorns.

John Wayne rocks and McClintock is one of my fav movies. Of course my husband says its one of his "chick flick" type movies not a REAL western. Whatever.

I'm not a big dog person. I love snickers. Pie is not my fav, but if it's pie I prefer cherry or blackberry. I totally love the Pirates movies and Jack Sparrow is classic. Dep does some weird stuff.

    I don't have a favorite color really, but I know it's not orange. :)

  12. Love wasbi! Wasbi peas have a great "crunch" factorm Great favorites also

  13. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrooooooosssssssssss.

  14. Never tried the wasabi peas. How's the sodium?
Favorite Pie: Cherry or Pecan. My recipes. Awesome. And seldom made, these days. (maybe T-giving)
DH's favorite movie is True Grit. He can watch it over and over. Mine is Bridge on the River Kwai (or Shining Through).

  15. Must try Wasabi peas now. Thanks

  16. History's big with me too, I majored in it in college. My favorite till I discovered writing anyway. And here I am in Arizona married to a big Green Bay Packers fan who's converted my children! Ho hum. Congratulations on your achievements. It's amazing what our bodies can do!
