Responsibility 199, what is it?

Responsibility 199 is a belief; I believe that to be healthy and to increase my longevity I need to weigh 199 pounds or less...
Responsibility 199 is a need; I need to reduce my weight, reduce my percentage of body fat, and the elevated threat of disease my present condition presents...
Responsibility 199 is a mission; I recognize that achieving 199 will be a challenge, perhaps the hardest I have ever undertaken...
Responsibility 199 is a commitment; I acknowledge that I must commit to action, commit to change, commit to myself and those I love to achieve this mission, to increase my longevity...
Responsibility 199 is ME.

Day 315-319: Here Is March

Good Morning Folks, Welcome to March!

Thank You to those of you whom have sent me emails or Twitter DM's the past day or so inquiring about my absence. I am alive and staying healthy; all is well. Over the past couple of weeks my morning schedule has become increasingly compressed and the bit of time I usually write up a post & hit the blogs has been narrowing. It bothers me more that I have not been able to get to your blogs more so than I've not had time to write a post.

So I will need to get more creative with wringing out some blogging time it seems. That in itself may be my main goal for March. Yes, it is March. Spring is oh-so near, or so says the calendar. Hopefully the weather will equal the calendar's expectations. I am hungry to get out there for some outdoor cardio. Last December I was toughing out the frigid temps for some outdoor cardio and I was rewarded by catching a cold twice. So since then I have limited my cardio to the elliptical.

March, what do I have planned for March...
  • A weigh-in, been about a month since I did that, thinking next week I'll give the scale a visit.
  • I'll be attending the National Fiery Foods & Barbecue Show this coming weekend. That'll pose some dietary challenge which I will handle just fine. As well I'll be golfing a couple of rounds for exercise.
  • My son has advanced to state regionals in Wrestling, not something we expected. I will miss regionals as they are this weekend but fingers crossed he advances on to the state finals the following weekend in Champaign; or are they in Springfield? We'll figure that out when he advances.
  • I am going back to the plastic surgeon to get more of my face sliced off. Recall my recent brush with melanoma, I have another spot on my forehead I've been advised to kick to the curb as a precaution so kick it I shall. Damn!, I just this minute remembered last September I was told to park the weight lifting for a week or two while the incision healed; $#&T!!!!!.
  • Spring Break is the last week of March, I'll take a day or two off that week for yet to be determined fun.

So what do you have planned for March?

  1. Just because you have to take a 2 week haitus from weight lifting doesn't mean you can't exercise! 2 weeks of plank-ing will really increase your holding capabilities! And you can always do situps, squats, walking, and other gentle exercise. No worries--you can still get the exercise in!

  2. Patrick, I've missed you greatly and am glad to hear you are doing okay and have just been busy. Sorry to hear about the reappearance of the Melanoma. I wish you the best with getting all that gone for good this time. March will hopefully be sunny and lovely and my intention is to get outside as much as possible. I also need to recommit to my plan and exercise regimen.
    Wishing you a good day!

  3. Glad you are doing well Patrick, time can be challenging visiting all the blogs for sure. Cool about your son. he must be excited. sorry to hear about the melanoma, hope everything goes well with that for you. March is going to be a cooking and prep month for me. We are bad ones for eating out, trying to make better choices, so trying to do more from home. I have no reason not to. Keep going and good luck, take care. c

  4. Congrats to your son! Guess what we have in common - melanoma. Just went and read that post. I wrote about my three skin cancers here http://waistingtimeblog.com/?s=soapbox in case you are interested. A doctor noticed my mole change, that was on the back of my leg where I could not see it. But the minor cancers on my face I had to keep asking about.

  9. you do sound busy for sure. I've missed you but that isn't your fault it's mine, I'm behind myself with getting around to my favorite folks. Glad you're doing ok, wish you didn't have to go back to the surgeon though that stinks.

  10. Glad you've been busy instead of sick or lost. Yes, get that thing off your face - many years ago my uncle had to have his ear removed because of melanoma. Nasty stuff!

  15. I sure know what it's like to be too busy to post! I also feel bad that I can't get to all the blogs every day. And it's even harder to find time to comment! I also can't wait for spring and some outdoor exercise!

  18. Hey my friend!

I wanted to let you know that I appreciate all of your support over the last few months. You played a big role in providing me the motivation I needed to keep going strong with my mission.

I am putting "The Heavy Man's Diary" under construction tomorrow and I will relaunch it again on Monday. Please visit on Monday and let me know your thoughts. Tell everyone you know to visit as well. We both know from experience that leaning on friends is a big component to reaching your goals.

    Talk to you soon.
