Responsibility 199, what is it?

Responsibility 199 is a belief; I believe that to be healthy and to increase my longevity I need to weigh 199 pounds or less...
Responsibility 199 is a need; I need to reduce my weight, reduce my percentage of body fat, and the elevated threat of disease my present condition presents...
Responsibility 199 is a mission; I recognize that achieving 199 will be a challenge, perhaps the hardest I have ever undertaken...
Responsibility 199 is a commitment; I acknowledge that I must commit to action, commit to change, commit to myself and those I love to achieve this mission, to increase my longevity...
Responsibility 199 is ME.

Day 412-415: Monday is Back

Monday is a great day, although most people disregard it as be even good. It has to be a great day. If it weren't, why were so many songs written about Monday?

There is Manic Monday via the Bangles. Are you wishing it were still Sunday, your funday? I had a great Sunday. Family party at the house for the graduates. Good times, good food (too much of it), definitely a funday. Sure, I can see wanting to wish it were Sunday again.

There is Jimmy Buffet's Come Monday. Monday gets some love from Jimmy, he tells us that come Monday it'll be all right. He also goes on to say he will hold us tight; I can do without that literally, but certainly I get it that some emerge from a weekend less than sure about the week ahead and could use a hug to get going.

There is Monday, Monday by the Mommas & Papas. Whew, they hated Monday, flat out said can't trust that day. But they also said it's here to stay.

Monday, yes it comes right after what are usually the two funnest days of the week.
Monday, yes no matter what you did this weekend you may regret; e.g. ate too much, went streaking while waving a Nascar flag, told your neighbor his wife needs to shave... I regret one of those today. No matter what it was you may regret today, Monday, don't blame it on Monday.
Monday, most definitely is here to stay. When we stop having Monday come around every seven days, probably means one of the previous seven days went terminally bad for us.

Be happy that Monday is back. Today, you get to enjoy the memories of a great weekend while getting busy on creating new memories. Monday is the perfect day to grab any regrets you have by the collar and make them right. And Monday, while it gets no respect even though it is here to stay, you deserve to embrace your self-respect this Monday and get after what it is you want.

What is it that you want this Monday?

  2. You forgot the Carpenters "Rainy Days and Mondays". I agree with Karen (Carpenter). Mondays get me down usually too however, one needs a down day to recognize the good days the rest of the time. :)

  4. Wow, Jimmy Buffet's Come Monday takes me back to High School. I love Mondays, I get to catch my breath after a hectic weekend and settle back into my routine. I want time to work out and time to get my hair cut.

  5. OK...Not sure if I can handle such a positive spin on Mondays on a Monday morning...maybe on a Tuesday but definitely not a Monday. Coming back to work after a week off is tough...Monday or not.

  6. OK, I missed this post yesterday! GREAT! You should have explained that on my Grateful Monday post - why we should be grateful for Monday! ;-) Actually I made it on Mondays for the specific reason - cause people hate Mondays for the most part!

  7. P--I haven't commented in a while, not because I haven't been reading, but I usually read on the sly at work (a no-no!) In any case, I love your line about "grab any regrets you have by the collar and make them right." I may just steal it! : )
