Your kids are very lucky. My father didn't take it quite as seriously, believing he always had tomorrow to tweak things. He didn't. The little extra burger here, the gravy there, the "just a few pieces" of candy ... they added up internally, silently, to deadly consequences. Who knows what that one last thing was, but sometimes we don't get warning shots over the bow and our bodies just quit - period. I know if my father, for one instant, thought the extras he let slip back into his diet would cause his early demise, he'd have taken it more seriously. YOUR children are lucky, because you do take it seriously. None of us is perfect, so it is unrealistic to think we can live up to the ideal all the time. My only advice to you is to not beat yourself up over "less perfection" - some weeks our bodies just lose more than others, even if we eat perfectly to plan. Revisit your commitment statement, to motivate you to readjust your choices slightly (you STILL made great choices) ... and then enjoy your children as they bask in these last days of summer vacation. I'm proud of you for losing forty-six pounds in a mere sixteen weeks - amazing! Keep up the good work. It is motivation for the rest of us. How many people have to actually punch new belt-holes, for Pete's sake?!! I was told to just keep on doing what I was doing. So I did, and the scales did (slowly) start moving downward again.<br /><br />I am new to your blog and yet learned all your healthy habits, but just watch your calories and keep up your exercise. Drink your water. Watch portions, and no seconds.
